Gozer’s appearance is preceded by increased paranormal activity and the disruption of natural forces. As briefly mentioned in the film and fully covered filmauto mieten by the 2009 game sequel, Gozer had a following on Earth around 6000 BC before being banished by the Babylonian goddess Tiamat following a protracted conflict between their followers. Portrayed by Sigourney Weaver, Dana Barrett was a cellist living at 550 Central Park West (55 Central Park West), a haunted apartment building which would become the gateway for the apocalyptic deity Gozer the Gozerian. She is possessed by the demon Zuul, Gatekeeper of Gozer, who, along with Keymaster Vinz Clortho, opens the interdimensional gate to summon Gozer to Earth in the first film. She promptly attracts the romantic attention of Peter, whose flippant behavior causes her to doubt her decision to seek aid from the Ghostbusters. In the sequel five years later, Dana is a divorced mother of an eight-month-old boy named Oscar; Peter is neither her former husband nor Oscar’s father.

The “Ecto-1” is the beloved ride of the original Ghostbusters lineup in the 1984 and 1989 films. It’s a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor in ambulance spec, complete with a huge rear compartment for patients. Of course, the Ghostbusters used the Miller-Meteor’s patient compartment to carry ghost-fighting gear like the gang’s proton packs. This Futura Duplex was indeed as beastly as it appears on screen. At almost 21 feet long and seven feet wide,  it was built from solid steel and had a stock curb weight between 7,000 and 7,300 pounds. And that’s before Dane– the man who whipped up the designs for the Ecto-1 among other gadgets like the ghost traps, particle thrower, and proton packs — tacked on all the things that turned it into a ghost-fighting-mobile.

In the novelization, she is depicted as having grown up near Battle Creek, Michigan; she met Abby in her senior year of high school and spent much of her time at the University of Michigan researching ghosts with Abby. She did postgraduate work at Princeton University and got her doctorate at MIT. In the extended version of the film, revealed that Erin was dating fellow Columbia University professor Phil Hudson (Justin Kirk), but their relationship ended after Erin got fired. Also, like Egon Spengler, Erin is prone to violent reactions when pushed too far temperamentally and has a powerful right cross that would break one’s nose. In the film, she rereleases her book without Erin’s consent, threatening her bid for tenure.

There they square off against Peck, trying to convince the mayor that not just the city, but the world, is in danger. Peck’s belief that the Ghostbusters were drugging the city with hallucinogens is invalidated by the authorities and experts. Evidence supporting the Ghostbusters’ innocence is brought forth, humiliating Peck since he has nothing to support his claims. The mayor sides with the Ghostbusters and has a furious Peck removed from his office. With the mayor’s support, the Ghostbusters gear up and head off with a police / military escort towards their confrontation with Gozer the Gozerian. Peck also heads up to 550 Central Park West and bears witness to Gozer manifesting in Its Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man Destructor form.

While the 1984 Ecto-1 makes its fifth starring role in a Ghostbusters movie, the iconic Cadillac will have a sidekick in the upcoming ‘Frozen Empire’ film. In U.S. theaters on March 22, a loaded-down Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, named ECTO-Z, will help save the world from a second ice age. The Vehicle Services team stripped the car back to metal, installed new sheet metal where needed, and repainted the entire vehicle. They even bought a fresh windshield from a parts car in South Africa. Finally, the restoration team updated all the rooftop gadgets with modern bulbs and electric motors. The original Ecto-1 lasted well into the filming of “Ghostbusters II” in 1989, but ended up a “piece of junk” that kept breaking down.

Mayhem later escapes, during which it kills paranormal debunker, Dr. Martin Heiss (portrayed by Bill Murray), by throwing him through a window, similar to Slimer’s attack to Heiss’s facsimile Peter Venkman in the 1984 film though he survived. Dr. Erin Gilbert, Abby Yates’ second-in-command, is played by Kristen Wiig in the 2016 film. She is introduced as an assistant particle physics professor at Columbia University, but her bid for tenure fails after her previous research into the paranormal with Abby comes to light. Having been repeatedly stalked by a ghost of a deceased neighbor when she was 8 years old, Erin later loses her belief in the supernatural after years of psychiatric therapy paid by her family but regains it after encountering Gertrude Aldridge’s ghost. Walter Peck appears only once in The Real Ghostbusters animated series, in the episode “Big Trouble with Little Slimer,” voiced by Robert Towers. Having been fired from the EPA, Peck has become a member of the government organization BUFO (Bureau of Unidentified Flying Organisms).

The Ecto-1 is a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Futura Duplex, but it’s not as straightforward as that. This was originally a “coachbuilt” vehicle, meaning Cadillac built the engine and most of the mechanical components atop a Series 75 commercial Caddy chassis but then turned it over to a third-party “coachbuilder” who finished off the interior and the bodywork. In this case, Cadillac built the base and sent it on to Miller-Meteor (a merged company formed by Wayne Works and Meteor Motor Car Company) to create a line of purpose-built vehicles that included limos, hearses, and in the case of the Ecto-1 — ambulances. Last but not least, they gave us that crazy cool Ecto-1 that took the fight to the supernatural baddies. Since the “Ghostbusters” franchise launched in 1984, it has left an indelible mark on pop culture, like ectoplasm from a ghoul.

We couldn’t celebrate the hilarious follow-up to Ghostbusters, the aptly titled Ghostbusters II, without including the unofficial fifth Ghostbuster! As a special bonus, if the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile (Anniversary Edition) traps the minimum backer amount within the first 14 days of the campaign, all backers will receive a 6-inch Louis Tully (Ghostbuster) action figure! Yes, that means if the early bird special is unlocked in the first 2 weeks, EVERYONE that backs the project throughout the duration of the campaign will receive this awesome Ghostbusters action figure!

There are also various gadgets mounted on the top, whose functions are never revealed in the movies. A cartoon episode features the proton cannon, presumably a more powerful version of a proton pack, mounted on top for use against extra-large or even giant-sized paranormal entities. She returns in the 2009 video game, where much of her history is revealed, and the Ghostbusters uncover the tragic story of her death. She was once Dr. Eleanor Twitty, the New York Public Library’s head librarian in the 1920s, and overseer of its Special Collections of ancient artifacts, stone tablets, long-forgotten tomes, and rare books. She was murdered in 1924 by philologist and oil tycoon Edmund Hoover, The Collector, a disciple of Ivo Shandor who seduced her for the Gozerian Codex among other rare books in her care.

The vehicle used for Ecto-1 was a 1959 Cadillac professional chassis, built by the Miller-Meteor company. Dr. Ray Stantz found the vehicle in 1984, shortly after he mortgaged a house left to him by his parents in order to buy and remodel a dilapidated firehouse for use as the team’s headquarters. He purchased the vehicle for $4,800 and performed the extensive repairs needed to bring it up to a condition that would suit their needs. It was painted white with red trim, marked with the company logo on the sides and rear, and fitted with an array of equipment on the roof, and became a well-recognized symbol for the Ghostbusters franchise.

Being incomplete they were intended to be bodied and assembled by third party coachbuilders, with one such coachbuilder being Miller-Meteor, the guys that built the ambulance/hearse combination end-loader that would later become Ecto-1. Seeing as All Hallow’s Eve is approaching we thought we’d take a look at one of the most famous movie cars to ever appear on spooky celluloid. A version of the game was released in Europe and Japan for the NES and Game Boy, titled New Ghostbusters II, developed by HAL Laboratory. It is more of a straightforward action game than the Activision game. The Game Boy version was released in America without the New label. Notable for allowing players to choose from all five ghostbusters from the end of the film; Peter, Ray, Egon, Winston, and Louis Tully.

Eduardo has a long-running subplot dealing with a love–hate relationship between him and Kylie, although it is very much revealed “In Your Dreams” that he has intimate feelings and dreams about her. These feelings are further enforced in that he is usually the one to rescue Kylie from dangerous situations, and vice versa, in several episodes. He once said to Kylie herself that nothing was going to happen to her “while [he’s] around”.

When the Ghostbusters arrived, Rowan discarded Kevin, took on a perverted, kaiju-like form of the caricature ghost from the Ghostbusters logo, and went on a rampage. The women destroyed the vortex by firing their particle throwers at Ecto-1’s reactor, detonating a nuclear explosion inside it. Rowan was pulled into the Ghost World, but caught Abby, trying to kill her. Erin entered the dimension and saved her, leaving Rowan trapped in the Ghost World. Dr. Jillian “Holtz” Holtzmann is portrayed by Kate McKinnon in the 2016 film.
